i got this coral in the infancy of my reefkeeping hobby but it has proved to be a hardy and super fast growing but super ugly coral. i finally decided to move it last night so i could hide my super huge and super ugly seio 2600 back in a corner. ofcourse in the process of taking it out of my canopy and putting it in my sump i broke off two major branches so now it is a pile of branches waiting to be taken to the lfs.

Doesn't look much different than my ORA blue polyp digi. I suppose the polyps are technically blue, but overall the thing looks like yours.

I wont treat that digi like a step child. You might be surprized what you really have. When I moved my tank to my new house I had two digi that looked just like yours. But before the move one was a green base/purple polyped digi and the other was a deep purple base/ purple polyps with lavender tips. I had them for about 3 months before they colored up like they did.

What are your water parameters and lighting?

If your Blue Polyp digi looks like that, then you DEF have nutrient or other problems. Here is my german blue digi... as well as others:

Your german blue polyp digi looks like it has a blue base also in those top pics. Mine does not. Mine looks just like the one on the ORA website. Blue polyps/tan base.

On my monitor here at least, your blue polyp digi looks EXACTLY like your purple digi, so I am confused.

Yeah the pictures are decieving, but they are different. The german blue does not have a purple skeleton and the polyps are differnt color too. My camera sucks *** so that is why they look the same. In person there is a very real difference between the two. You can especially tell when the polyps are retracted...

So, mine is tan with light blue polyps. Is this not what I should expect? What is yours?

Here is a better picture of my blue polyp digi, if you look you can see the tan/whitish skeleton....

hehe, Poop colored digitata... hehe

No in all seriousness, youd be surprized at what it may turn into under the right conditions...

although, there is a good possibility that you just have a plain, brown digi.

They def dont grow like my digis (weeds).

yeah, it was either keep it and have my pump visible or hide my pump a little and ditch it... i went for the latter.
