before my eyes...death!

To all those that took the time to provide input on my QT issues, thanks again. I awoke yesterday at 6 to a very sick fish, which is amazing that overnight everything went from getting better to really bad. The fish was covered in white spots, which maybe attribute to a big stir up in sediment when I turned on the suggested powerhead for added circulation, which was my fault and could have been avoided if I was paying attention. Regardless, by 9:30 it was done.

all levels were again tested to be zero (NH4, nitrate, but my pH was low, ~8.0. This was actually coming from the water changes I had done the last two days, which was coming from the display. I don't know if low pH would have had that kind of a negative impact. Now to address the pH and alk in the display.

Looking back, I wish I would have lowered the SG during those water changes to assist with the infection component.

Anyways, I guess these are the inherent risks of pursuing this hobby. With that, I can not go without saying that RC and the local forums are truly invaluable resources and everyone's experiences and expertise are sincerely appreciated. I look forward to meeting some of you for the first time and some a second time at the next event.

I don't think that pH would kill a healthy fish. Angels can be hard to keep and have issues ranging from getting ich easily to swim bladder problems. Some are caught using poison. Just the stress that the fish had prior to adding the powerhead and water change could have been enough.

You are learing and are trying to be responsible. Even the most experienced hobbiest has problems. Hang in there.
