Im looking into getting a clam for my tank but this would be my first one. So i was wondering if there are any clams that have some type of reputation of being rather easy to keep? It will be undering 250w 20K MH and 2 48" T5. Thanks any help would be apreciated. I searched figuring there would be other threads but couldnt find one. Thanks

I'm no Clam expert, but I have killed just about every one except Derasas, I actually have two that made it when 7 Croceas and 1 Maxima kicked the bucket.

Deresa's are known to be easier as they require less light. However, it sounds like you have a really nice lighting setup....I wouldn't recommend against getting a squamosa or a crocea......they should do fine as well. Just keep them in your rockwork....not in the sand.

T. Deresa and T. maxima are your best bets. The latter is especially popular since T. maxima (along with T. crocea) tend to have the most vibrant colors. T. Gigas are also supposed to be relatively hardy, but they obviously get far too big for just about anyone's tanks. I think the main factor in the difficulty of clams is sufficient lighting. Croceas are going to be your most light demanding clams, but it looks like you should be pretty set for just about anything as far as your lighting goes.
