I read the sticky on clowns maturing and changing sexes but I didn't completely understand.

I have had 2 percula clowns from what i want to say is only a few months old. (when i got them the colors were really faded and had no black on them and they were really small, 4 months later they are twice the size and have the percula black markings)

I know they are not old enough yet to be either sex but I was having a hard time understanding when it said a dominant female is needed for a sexless to become a male.

What if i have 2 sexless together will they both turn into males when they reach maturity and then the dominant become the female or something like that?

Just wondering if i have to do something special with these circumstances.

Thank you :)

If you have two juvenile fish, one will become dominant and transition into being a female. All clownfish are born as juvenile males, sometimes called intermediates. Once one of the fish begins to be more dominant and aggressive, which may take several months, hormones kick in and result in that fish developing into a female. Once a female always a female, there is no going back. You don't need to do anything special, nature will take it's course if you start with two juveniles of the same species.
