just wondering what some of the best sps to start out with? the tanks being lit with 3 10k 250 watt MH and two actinics ....but that'll be changed over in the next few months to 15k maybe even 20k with some t5,

Birdsnest and Pocillopora seem to be considered hardy, and fairly forgiving. And I've read that Bali Green Slimers adapt well to different conditions, and grow quickly. Stable water parameters, and good flow, are important as well as lighting. The SPS experts will have more advice!

monti caps are hardy as well. ditto to params and flow.
ya think ill start in the new year with some monti and just a few others . i bring the tank home on the 13th....flow you say? well it better with all the pumps that come with it lol i guess ill know a lot more when i get it here

I still have my monti caps, digitata's green & pink birdsnests along with scripp's staghorn I started out with 2yrs ago. They are all pretty durable beginners sps & have grown tremendously. Stable levels, good flow & lighting are the key. good luck!!.

agreed on any thing from ORA. tank adapted SPS will do FAR better than wild colonies. stay away from acros until you establish you can grow sps well.

I agree and disagree with some things people have said so far. My advice is to try a bunch of different coral out. I have tank adapted SPS and wild colonies and both seem to be doing equally as well, and I've only had my tank for about a year. Don't be afraid of acros either.

Dont get discouraged with some of the pieces if they loose their color though. I had a bunch of corals lose their color but after getting used to the light they bounced back. My banana lokani looked awesome, lost its color and took over 2 months to color back up. Just give it time and everything should work out.

I'm no expert, but that's my opinion

Holy crap man. Thats alot of pumps. I'v heard poci's are fast grower's and are easy to take care of. I just decently got one and it seems to be doing okay for now.
