:-) Progress....wife is getting on edge though....may have to slow down a bit. I have a good algae bloom, tank is DIRTY and in to month 3 now of bringing this back online. New 120 sump is slipped into place and filling the reserve side with RO and salt....I need to water mark the level in a few days when the salinity is on spot....then attach some floats and make flow holes.

Electrician comes in two weeks...have to finish a little bit of framing this weekend, but I think I have a decent plan of what I will be having him do

Patience is a blessing. Hope framing and electrical works out perfect! God Bless! May it be so!

I have my first big algae bloom....many would crying....I'm smiling. In a few months I may get a cleaner pack...still haven't put down a sand bed yet though......will see how it plays out. Right now my focus is on the bottom end/side of the system. My lady helped me slide a 120g sump in place today....She loves me!

Transitioned the water flow over to the new sump successfully a few days ago. Some wiring work plumbing next for the additional pumps, as well as placing floats, heaters and probes.

ok... was looking at it and was like.. HUH??? Looked like a wall before the drywall goes up and the electrical guy had already been in to run his conduits, just need some pull string in each one now.

So that they mix and flow in a certain pattern to prevent any detritus build up, is what it looks like in my opinion.

Somewhat....it creates a circular motion in the head chamber there where the drop pipes come in and actually does a good job of creating skimmate at the top R side, which flows out of a small hole in the top and drops into the low flow area where I will put mangroves. The main water flow exits low and through the baffles. I've used this design for years and it seems to work well. My skimmer stopped producing actually, but I was not heavily stocked at the time. Will see how this setup works and post results down the road. What is in the pic is the left half of a 120 gallon. The right half is meant for reserve water capacity and water change by removing it out of the primary flow and doing the water change. I will plumb in a skimmer through that diving wall between the two halves when needed down the road, taking the agitated water with skim directly from that head chamber ...right now I'm FOWLR while working on the putting the system back together.

Returns from the 3 tanks?

Yes, right now there is a 210 DT with two drop pipes from the overflow boxes...there will be another two tanks in this setup with the same into the sump. Multi displays so I can have more species diversity in the DTs, and still run as one system....at least that is the idea....we'll see how it goes over the next year as I build this out. It is all shoved into a 4x11' false room extending into the front living entry room of the house, with rear access directly from the garage. 3 return pumps which will split up between the tanks to provide a level of redundancy in case one fails, Pump 1 will return into DT1 & DT2, P2 into D2 & D3, P3 into D3 & D1.

I could have come down all into a few larger drop pipes, but I wanted to be able to divert some overflow directly into a frag tank which will flow into the sump tank directly since the frag will be at the same level as the sump.

It was the only sweeps I could find at the store that day...electrical conduit is just the same as water pipe basically and the sweeps won't restrict the flow like hard 90s or 45 degree elbows.

Haven't posted in about as long as my halted progress has lasted....early last year. Had other focuses come up all year basically, so the tank progress was at a stand still. $$$ :(

Bought a Jabeo 60 and will build an interface cable to interface with Apex 0-10 dropped to 0-5 with a voltage divider circuit. There are some useful threads in RC on that modification/DIY. I'm interested to see Neptune's new gear and performance, so I'll run the cheaper Jabeo pumps for now before considering other options. Also, just ordered a cleaner pack and PODs which hopefully will be in this week and maybe will start stocking more fish soon. :-)

I'm impressed with the Jabeo pump, very strong currents across the entire tank as observed by the lifting of detritus from all the rock structure and tank floor. I was able to create a standing wave that about came over the top until I changed the pulse durations.

A little tragedy down the street....my neighbor has been in ICU with complications for a few weeks and his wife doesn't know about his tank. We fixed the overflow last Saturday which broke siphon and topped off the water. Lost 1 yellow. The others thought to be dead made it once the O2 was replenished. Got a call again yesterday because the sump was dry again. After discussing we decided to ease their mind I will babysit the fish in my tank, so now there is are tangs and others inhabiting my tank. Weird timing because I just started working on the tank again last Friday and had just got it ready for larger fish. Added a AFS module yesterday and have all the fish settled in as well put my neighbor's live rock in the sump. Will still need to scoop out his sand and dry the tank since we are unsure of his homecoming and ability to care for his tank. Hopefully my neighbor recovers and I am able to take care of his stock. One of the tangs is a big nose unicorn about 12-14 inches long...his name is Big Boy and they have had him since he was just a few inches long.
