Hi all
Last year I was plagued with a viscious parasite in my tank the infection started in March - Saw nothing of it and just went on by September things started going wrong and my fish got wiped out.
The symptoms were flashing, jawning, frayed fins and the obvious heavy breathing and death.
I Attempted to kill the parasite and it seemed that when I dosed praziquantel, it would get better for a day or two and then start again !
I resorted to resueing the last of my fish and treating them in a tank with formalin(sterazin) and that seemed to do the trick.
I have been keeping my tank clear of fish from mid November 2012 and I did a test I did a waterchange on my main DT and took the water from it tonight and did a waterchange on my test holding tank. It contains tow gobies and chromis. The chromis seem unaffected by the gobies were affected immediately. I take it the infection will spread by tomorrow to them aswell.
I am wanting to ask, what was the longest you have had too keep a tank fallow in such a situation ? The fact that they were water born and came along for the ride to their new tank and immediately infect has got me stumped !!!!!
I am almost wanting the throw in the towl and keep and SPS only reef - no fish :sad2:
Has anybody ever come accross something like this ?
Please help !!!!
Keep well
