Berghia Nudibranch

Does anyone have any Berghia Nudibranch for sale or know who carries them in the Blacksburg/Roanoke area? They eat only aiptasia and I have quite a bit. I've found them online but they are $11.50/piece plus 30 bucks shipping. I may have to bite the bullet and order some...

I think they are hit or miss, I am doing a fish order soon and you can jump on and split shipping if youd like. I am ordering a kleins to take care of mine.

I may have to do that. Anyone else have any good suggestions? I know my tank/experience is not ready for a copperband butterfly and I read that raccoon butterflies are fairly aggressive towards corals.

I've been through plenty of berghias but they never totally took care of my aiptasia problem. I had them laying eggs and everything but they just seemed to dissappear with time and aips still there. For years i've heard people say peppermints will do the trick so I would get 3 to 5 at a time for my 120g but still aips. Finally I purchased 20 of them from a place for $2.50ea and I am totally aiptasia free now. I found they don't relly like to mess with large aips so I would make the large aips draw up by hitting them with some kalk paste, joes juice, etc. whatever I had at that time and overnight the peps would take care of them. HTH. It def worked for me. I have a little army of peps in all my tanks now and NO aips.

I have em up near DC, technically im breeding them but ive gotten lazy and havent been taking the greatest care of them so things have slowed.

here is a write up of my breeding...i went from 2 or 3 to 40plus, now sitting around 10.

They are really cool creatures, but if you have alot of space between aiptasia patches then they may not be the best...

I still think that File fish(bristletail i think it is) and Copper bandeds etc are some of the best choices if you have a bigger tank and a bunch of aiptasia....ive seen the filefish desimate aiptasia..

My nudis are in their own tank and they MOW thru aiptasia but ive put a few in the main tank and never seen or heard from them again....powerheads, shrimp, wrasses etc often go after them...actually so do my tangs....
but if you can take a rock or frag out and put them in with the nudi's they work REALLY well.

just my 2 cents but id try the file fish first....i got my nudi's with a coral trade but if i had to pay as much as most are asking for...then i probably wouldnt have done it.

I had peppermints in the past that always took care of my aiptasia but I havnt seen them in a while and I now have a much larger tank. I know they like lower temperatures too. I think I will try the butterfly route and if it starts eating my other corals I have another tank I can put it in.
