Berghia Nudibranches

Anyone want in on an order from Saltyunderground.com? I'm planning on buying some berghia to help take care of an aiptasia infestation that is getting out of control. Looking to buy for delivery this Friday or next. Let me know if you are interested. Shipping is actually not bad, but the more the merrier to help defray that cost.

I've been contemplating some of these. Hope they get along with my mystery wrasse. You can count me in. I have been zapping my tank with aptasia-x but still see some. I have a 120 gallon. What do they suggest? PM me and let me know what the cost will be, etc. I will do it.

They recommend 10 for a 120. I'm not sure how I would feel about getting them with a wrasse in the tank. Supposedly they are nocturnal feeders so the wrasse shouldn't bother them as long as you add them to the tank with the lights off. However, it could be an expensive snack for your wrasse from what I've read. Will send you a PM either way.

RJ - sorry for the 'jack... But I'm assuming you've tried the tried and true combo of peppermint shrimp to get the ones you can't see, plus Joe's Juice for the ones you can.

Might be cheaper, and has worked for me.

Good luck. Afraid I don't need anything from Saltyunderground myself.

I actually used to use peppermint shrimp and they worked really well in the past. But after they took care of the aiptasia they developed an appetite for my BTA and some of my acans so they were banished to the sump. So in some ways, this is cheaper. :)

RJ,
Have you tried the berghai yet? If not and you still plan on it...I'm in for a few. I just keep getting aptasia and might not be a TON..but they just keep getting bigger and I'm willing to try something "natural" for a few bucks. Let me know. Thanks -George

+1 to peppermint shrimp. I went through an entire bottle of aiptaisia x over a 10 month or so period and every time they would just come right back and more each time. Put two peppermints in my tank ($15 each) from LFS and within a week or so all gone. :) And I had a crap load all over my tank. Good luck.

last time I had peppermint shrimp I had no aptasia. They also dig into corals when you're feeding them and tend to munch on acans as well. I know...camelback....peppermint...either way...you take a chance. Shrimp are cool...just annoying when I'm trying to feed my acans.

Feed them first, if you can. I have the same trouble with mine but they're just telling you something ("I'm hungry!").

I've got 3-4 peppermints in my 29g, with no aphasia, and a bunch of happy acans. And mine never come out to eat if lights are on. They hide. I see them peaking out from around rocks.

Then again, I've always gone to a lot of trouble to ensure I was buying true peppermints, and not camelbacks being mistakenly sold as such.

I don't want to say that the negative peppermint experiences with peppermints posted here are actually problems with camelbacks. But from what I understand, these problems are consistent with the problems camelbacks cause. But who's to say?

I've certainly had critters in my tank that did not behave as they were expected to.

Tis a moot point if you are getting Berghia though. ;)

I only have a single peppermint and it behaves much the same as Steve's. No sight of him during lights-on (although I can and do purposefully coax it out when I feed coral) but it's all over the glass at night. Definitely buyer beware when you pick these up from the LFS though. The differences are subtle. I wouldn't have high confidence that a LFS will go out of their way to validate on your behalf should they end up with camel's vs. true peppermints in their random shipments.
