Berlin Sump with Sock and ER135 - bubbles from the sock

Ok I have a new Berlin Sump and I am getting a ton of small bubbles from the sock and the ER135. Ok I am waiting out the ER135 but what can I do about the sock micro bubbles. I do not think I have enough room in the Sump for two baffles. If I can extend the baffle under the bag down then add two others I can create a bubble trap right. I have only 3 maybe 4 inches to use. Is there another possiblity I am not thinking about. How about something near the pump intake to cut back on the bubbles. I don't want to chance something getting sucked into the pump but if I can cut back on the bubbles I will be happy.

I used a piece of that black course foam in my sock about 1/2 way down and it help cut down on the bubbles and I found it make a great place for pods to multiply. Just have to remember to clean it out when you change socks.

Eric from your pics you have your returns just dumping in the sock.

You should build an other Durso type stand pipe for the sump. it will cut down on some of your bubbles and lots of noise. just make sure it empties just below the waterline and don't forget to drill the top.

IMHO, your bubble problem is from the dual overflows and the small pump mixing to much air with water, If you had the volume of water to demand two Dursos you would have had to gut the teeth on the overflow or have water flowing over the top of the tank.

In other words you are not supplying enough water to fill 2 pipes so the remainder of the space has to be filled with air, it mixes together during the fall and so you have bubbles.

In my 65 I am pushing close to 1500gph through a 1" drain 1 1/4" Durso with only having to enlarge the space between the teeth.

I have had twin Dursos before and it takes a lot of work and understanding of how to adjust them to get them to work well together without flushing. (I'm doing something different with the 150 to avoid the difficulties, based on personal conversation with Rich Durso)

I'm not clear on your vision of what you want with this tank but think your going way beyond what you need and getting frustrated because it isn't working how you envisioned it.

I agree with the KISS statement.

My goal was to push as much water as I could without making any mods to the tank. I am currently draining as much as my pump can push back into the tank because there is no flushing in the sump at all. It stays constant at the level I have marked in the sump other than top off.

I am using hose to drain into the sock and I have two drains into the one sock. Because of the hose and how it bends and the location of the sock to the drain opening the force of the water is not going straight down into the water but against the back side wall of the sock and the force of the water is pushing bubbles through the sock.

It is a hobby of opinions and I do not have my own yet so I listen and try what everyone around has to say worked for them. I am considering trying PVC drains just so I can position them in the middle of the sock. I am also considering cutting more off my current drains so they are out of the water to see how this helps with air reduction in the water itself. I have closed off one Durso and my pump is pushing more than the one durso can drain. Then again it might be me. I am also adding all those 45degree turns to my return which is slowing down my pump as well. Maybe I should go back to one Durso and push the return up and into my tank that way and see how it works out.

The bubbles drive me nuts because I want to be adding my LR and getting the tank through its cycle.
