Berndt's Moray Eel (Gymnothorax berndti)

I'd say eels in general are more uncommon imports; that's only the second one I've seen for sale of this species(Im not looking for one just browsing fish online). What's the point of this thread? What are you trying to learn or gain. Maybe you'll get more help that way.
 
But you are the "reef expert"!!!

They are not collected often....there is not a huge demand for them, and they seem to sporadically show up in the hobby. You will most likely not ever see one in your typical LFS.
 
I saw one in a LFS by me a few months ago when two came into the US, they are interesting looking but not worth the price tag if you ask me.
 
G. berndti is a deepwater species that seems to be collected sept-oct, apparently they are in shallower water during that time. I had one (from DD); it survived shipping but died two days after... luckily LA is awesome and refunded the entire cost of the animal and shipping.
