Best $24 I ever spent

I just signed up for premium membership, what a great investment. Now I have a spell checker so I don't look like an illiterate idiot, (grammar would be nice) and full access to the search engine, I have done 15 searches today alone.

When I first signed up for RC the search engine worked most of the time, for the last year or so it was essentially worthless unless I was trying at 2 am, now I can be reading what I am trying to find instead of digging through old threads or using that awful Google search.

Once again, best money I have spent in a long time and only 2 bucks a month for access to the largest database on reefkeeping info in the world.

I was lucky enough to get it for free thanks to habib. :D and I agree. I porbably use it at LEAST once a day to search. Sometimes just for fun.

Lol. It wouldn't have been long before I had done it on my own but once mine runs out (I don't know when) I'll pay for it again. I spend alot of time and use alot of their bandwith and have learned so much that it only seems fair.

When I first signed up, it seemed like there was no benefit. The search engine did not work either. I sent a letter to inquire about the benefits and they never replied. However, the search engine began working right after the letter, so I was happy.

Affirmative.... I ponied up the cash last week for a premium membership. I was looking at some nice zoas on e-bay and I passed on them and spent the money in a much wiser way... on here. Those zoas would have been pretty, but spell check alone is worth the cash anyday. As a matter of fact.. after looking at the pitiful excuse for grammer from some of the people on here, I'm actually thinking about gifting a premium membership to FRAG for a raffle just so that I can understand more of the threads. Hmmmmm... seriously thinking on this one.

When I became a Premium Member it really didn't have much to do with the search feature, larger picture sizes and other benefits.

It had to do with giving back a little something to this site. Because without it, I would not be anywhere near the reef keeper I am today. This site is priceless for knowledge and many other things.............like FRAG! :D

Yeah I didn't do it for any other reason except that I've saved tons of money and gained tons of knowledge from the sight! Met a lot of nice people, too!

(by tons of money i mean that i've made few"er" mistakes than if i had listed to the lfs salespeople, atr excluded of course ;) )

Yeh, I have to agree. I pounded through posts on my own without the ability to search for 3 months before spending the cake on premium membership. I learned alot, but man is it quicker to search to find what you're looking for.

BTW, Pyrrhus- thanks for the help on the new rr tank, 34x20x24.

Yes, very dry, very smoky. Probably a little too peaty for me to drink very often. There is still so many I havent tried. I picked a Clynelish awhile back thats a good affordable dram. Very big flavor, not too smoky.
I would love to have the money to try some of the rare, old ones.

Yeah, me too. My father always told me to never start drinking a scotch that you cannot afford to keep drinking.

I signed up for the same reason as Kirsten. I consider it good stewardship. This site has done so much for us and a lot for the quality of reef keeping. It also raises a lot of awareness about being responsible about owning livestock. I never imagined people would give away a $100 fish or trade an expensive coral for next to nothing just to assure that it would thrive better somewhere else. Losing fish for many is really just a financial thing, but being on this site for a couple of years turns it into a desire to see the little guys thrive!

Oh yeah, and you save a ton of money.

:D

I agree with all the above, Premium membership supports the lifeline, communication, and besides it's a drop in the bucket considering the amount spent in this hobby
