Best(affordable) hang on skimmer for 55g?

Please recommend good alternative's to CPR BakPak/AQUA C Remora (I own both of these and am not all that impressed with either.) This will be for my bro-in-law's 55g which he plan's to keep asst. softies/shroom's/zoo's/small fish etc., and he need's something simple to run(his first skimmer) and not too noisy. He also can't be pawning body part's to pay for it(sorry DelTec). All advise welcome:eek1:

perhaps a coralife super skimmer w/ needlewheel?
Thats about the only choice you have left of decent skimmers other than doing a DIY one.

i have the coralife super skimmer and for the money its great and really quiet, i bought my for about $125 not to shabby for a pretty good skimmer best of luck to you and your brother-n-law

I have been pondering the thought on the CSS 220 for one of my tank's as well. Do you think this is too overkill for 55g.? I would rather pay more now... then to regret having purchased an underpowered skimmer later.

Nope. I think the 220 would be fine for your 55. If you wanted to upgrade later, you'd always have the skimmer. Better to buy big now, and save later.
