Well just like it says, what is the best algae eating fish? O have a few patches of HA that I can't reach so im hoping a fish can get it...so which fish? I have a 90 sps tank!
My money is on a foxface/rabbit fish. Not sure if they will eat HA but I would say probably your best shot. They will get a little too big for a 90 though when fully grown, I think smaller ones still get upwards of 7".
A Lawnmower Blenny will usually eat GHA. However, you'll need to provide him with lots of supplemental feeding (nori, spirulina, herbivore preparations) once he mows thru all your GHA.
Have you considered treating the source of the problem instead? If you have elevated phosphates, some GFO in a media reactor works wonders. Or chaeto tumbling in a sump/fuge.
i was thinking about a lawnmower blenny, ill probably scoop one of those up...and yeah im getting to the bottom of the problem. I put a carbon and GFO reactor online about 3 weeks ago, so im hoping within the next month or two itll dwindle down a bit!
My Starry Blenny does nothing but cruise around my aquarium all day and pick at every piece of algae he can see! They aren't that great of swimmers, and I love watching mine swim up to the surface of my tank to eat patches of algae off of my return pump pipes.
It's also funny to watch it try to steal the nori from my purple tang when he decides to tear it off of the clip.
Well I must have got a dud Lawnmower Blenny. Mine eats everything I put in the tank, flakes, pellet, mysys, and nori but seems to rarely eat off the rocks and never touches the hair algae.
