Best algae eating fish

Hey all,

I would like to add something to my cleanup crew to help with the algae. My cleanup crew consists of:

12 - Cerith Snails
12 - Margarita Snails
5 - Nassarius Snails
5 - Mexican Turbo Snails
1 - Fighting Conch

I am planning on stocking these fish:

(1) Tang - Yellow (Zebrasoma flavescens)
(1) Angelfish - Flame (Centropyge loriculus)
(2) Clownfish - Ocellaris (Amphiprion ocellaris)
(2) Goby - Purple Firefish (Nemateleotris decora)
(1) Wrasse - Six Line - (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia)

What can I add that will really help cleanup the algae caused from the cycle?

EDIT: I also really need something that will clean up my sand...

I would skip the yellow tang and do a One Spot Foxface. They are beautiful and VERY hardy, they also will keep the tank algea free

The blenny is only good when they are young. As they grow they will become more of an oportunistic feeder eating "meaty" fish foods. Not good on the greens. I have had the best luck with hermit crabs (Scarlet and/or red legged) for fish I would have to agree with the Foxface.

6 weeks?

6 weeks?

Your tank hasn't truly finished cycling, I would hold off onfish purchases, maybe get yourself a phosban reactor, start skimming more, ie: better skimmer, more water changes, and vaccuming out detritus. Secondly, pick up some tuxedo urchins to help control the algal blooms. A tang will only add to your bioload.

good luck

Wow...he's not kidding about the tuxedo urchins!!! I got one 3 days ago and he is doing amazing things for my hair algae!!
Love it! Not to fond of the stuff he carries around on his back though ::rolleyes:

I second the lawnmower blennie, made a huge difference in my tank. He is an opportunistic feeder as well. He eats the nori I hang up for the tang. :)

Alright guys. Thanks for the help. I will probably go with the Lawnmower Blenny. I may add an urchin down the road because I really like how they look but I dont have any coraline algae yet and as soon as I do get some, I dont want the urchin eating it!
