Best anemone for a first time

I want my clowns to host a small anemone. I have a 22 gal tank that has been up for over more than a year. Any suggestions of something relatively hardy?

Rbta. Do you plan on upgrading? What lighting do you have? Flow? Other coral?

An RBTA would be my choice, too; one caveat is (as you may know) they can split and actually crowd each other- but they can make great trades for store cedit at the LFS.

If the goal is hosting then a BTA is your only choice. Don't count on it staying small though! Fishman's questions are all quite relevant. How is your flow produced, powerhead? Powerhead + nem is a recipe for disaster, especially in a nano tank.

I agree my don't agree with the powerheads. In a cube, a Powerhead may be a problem, in my 120 my two powerheads are not. If you plan on upgrading in four to five years, I would NOT get any thing for corals in the tank except the nems, since they will split, and split, split again, and split more.

BTA for sure. You can always start with a green one just to make sure things go well.

I would fully agree that a BTA is the only choice for you. It is up to weather you want a Rose or a Green, both are very nice. If you clown is a hoster then it will be happy w/either of them. My Onyx clown, hosts my RBTA and my Perc's are in my Green. Both are in my main reef.

It will take longer for the oces, but they will go in. A RBTA is a natural host to the maroon clownfish, so maroons love them. Ocellaris are nit hosted by rbtas in the wild, so it takes them longer than the maroons to notice the anemone as a home. My two tank raised BW oces are hosted by my 2 rbtas and sebae. One clowns owns sebae, one owns two rbtas.

Sometimes they chose not to go in BTA's at all. Your chances are increased if you get a Captive breed occe that the breeder introduces to BTA's when they are young.

My occe were hosting almost all my corals before I introduced a rbta, now they won't leave it.

I know some people have had success...but I would not suggest an anemone for a 22 gallon tank. But if you must, the BTA is the easiest anemone to keep in such confinements.
