Best Aptasia Cure

Hey guys,

I have a slight aptasia issue. I would say I have 4-5 of them ranging in size from a dime to a golfball. I have tried peppermint shrimp (added 3 and have never seen them again) and also have had a copperband (Not skilled enough to keep him a live). I have shot them with Kalkwasser and not had amazing resluts either.

Have nay of you tried any new products or have a solution that would help me out?

Let me know,

Shawn Paul

I have had very good luck with Aiptasia X ... not so much with Joe's Juice or kalk paste.

The X is almost like a glue and you get probably 10 times as many applications in one bottle then in Joe's Juice for the same price. Nice applicator tips as well.

Turn off your pumps and fill the applicator with the purple liquid and slowly feed the beasts. Their mouths and insides become glued and they start to expand. You will see the little beasties explode (literally) in short order and be a pile of white goo. Couple of weeks and counting and I have not seen much of a recurrance from those who ate the X.

I have heard of boiling water and squirting them as well but that takes quick action and accuracy cause if you miss you kill whatever the boiling water hits.

True Pepps should be your best bet... mine just keep getting eaten by my flame hawk that I cannot catch for the life of me. They will last a couple of days and eat a couple aips before being hunted down by my predator fish. I keep thinking maybe he will find one he gets along with and let him live. No such luck yet.

Hi,

Boiling hot RO water from the microwave in a syringe always worked for me. Inject it right into the Aptasia.

i have injected natural lemon juice in concentrated form with an insulin syringe or put kalk past on them using a thinner paste in a syringe used to hand feed small kittens and puppies milk. either has worked well for me just dont miss

Mrs T's Pickeling Lime from walmart, make a paste, microwave it for 10 seconds and use a syringe/dropper to drop it into the mouth. works well.

joe's juice is garbage and a snake oil at best.

It may or may not work, but doesnt seem to.

Now, Aiptasia X, that stuff is legit and actually works.

I've battled aiptasia for over 6 months, ran through 2 bottls of joes, boiled half my rock and they were still around.

Been using the Aiptasia X now for a couple of applications and already seemed to rid it completely.

Plus you do get 4x more for the same price as joes juice and as lawdog mentioned, the applicator tips and syringe are something you can literally have for years if you take care of them.

high quality product that works!

I see we all have our choice items. Hmmm. I will start researching the two highly mentioned items.

Joe's Vrs. Aiptasia X, who will win the battle?

I have used 2 of the 3 bottles of Aptasia-X I bought so far. I am proud to say the aptasia are gone. Now the manjano (sp) anemones are harder to kill. They are still present in my tank.

I have used Aptasia X and kalk paste and they seem to keep coming back. I went and got a syringe with needle from TSC and injected them with vinegar and VIOLA' they don't come back. Best part is the price...:D

Never had a problem with Joe's Juice.

Kills instantly on contact.

Never thought to try Aptasia X, because I have never had Joe's Juice fail me.

Hmmm... Does vinegar hurt the water quality?

nope. The only thing vinegar will do is drop the ph but not the small amount I use at a time. You can use vinegar to counter a kalk OD to bring the ph down.

Mike it works on majonos to you just have to hit them a few times ,takes more than one dose and i vac it off after im done so they dont spread, Steve

Reef putty works especially on those you miss with other stuff because they are able to retract into a hole out of harm's way. Chase them into their hole with the putty then plug their hole with it. Usually works the first time, but if they have a second entrance, you just plug that one too. The putty looks as nice as discarded chewing gum for a little while but covers over well.

jsut put joes juice on mine and within 30 sec GONE!!!!!

That is how they trick you... Joe's juice just iritates them and they retract and seem to disappear quickly only to come back in a few days... If your going to try Joe's save your money and just use kalk paste cause that is all it is...

As I said earlier... True Peppermint Shrimp are your best bet... I would get a small platoon of them 5-7 and let them go they will eat them. I would stop feeding the tank for a couple of days until they start feeding on them. I am dying to get my hawk out of my tank so I can put pepps in there and finish the job on the ones I can't reach. 5 shrimp and about 2 weeks and they willl be all gone. Try to get bigger shrimp that helps too. Use the X on the big ones and let the shrimp clean up the rest.

Good luck. There are way worst pests to have.... like majanos which are even harder to kill off.

My buddy uses Joe's Juice, and has had pretty decent results from it. I'm looking to get a couple peppermints since I've got a few in my tank now, hopefully that will do the trick.
