Best Auto Top Off..opinions?

I am looking for opinions on an Auto top off. The main reason is for going on a weeks vacation. I will have someone feed the fish (I will have 7 individual days worth) and clean the walls of the tank, but would prefer them not doing anything with the water. I am looking at putting a Rubber bin beside my tank and have the RODI water run it to my sump, for the 7 days I am away. Any one have the pros and cons for the many top offs out there?

Tunze osmolator (spelling?) seems to be a good device.

Honestly, I wouldn't have them clean the glass. Too risky for scratches from an unknowing person, and easy to do when you get home.

I've really enjoyed the peace of mind with the Elos Digital. No moving parts to worry about snails or anything getting into.

Aren't those tunze Like 200 bucks? For that money I would just buy a controller.

Are the tunze optical?

I was sitting right where you are about a month ago. I purchased a JBJ, but then before I even received it, did a lot of looking at controllers and quickly realized that I could get a controller, with a small aqualifter pump and float switches for just a bit more. I did, and am so grateful I did. I don't know if your budget would make that possible, but honestly, even a JBJ costs enough that something like an Apex Jr or Reefkeeper Lite + the float switches won't be a whole lot more and give you so much more that an ATO by itself.

My ATO is an Apex Lite, with a self made wire instead of the break out box for the float switches. I purchased the Reef Keeper dual float switches and a Toms Aqualifter pump. Works great, plus I get all that a controller offers in addition, including emails or text messages when my ATO needs water!

Hope that helps. If you want a simple ATO, Tunze's is great from what I've read and researched, but JBJ's seem to be pretty decent too and are less, which is why I went that way, or almost went that way.

Got the Tunze and is working great.....Now I just need to get a pump to pump the water up from the basement storage tank.

I have a DIY kit from Chicagosensor and it has worked perfectly for me and was much cheaper than all the other systems and was super easy to assemble.
