Would kalk dosing affect anyone's decision. Would say an ATO with an optical sensor be negatively affected by using kalk in the ATO?

I have an used DIY setup. A float switch in the sump, and in the ATO bucket a pump and a sensor to stop the pump when running dry. Works well.

I am curious what benefits to spend so much on Tunze?

I have 120G tank, maybe for a nano tank, every bit precision matters.

I'd be interested in details and spme pics.

BRS has the Tunze Osmolator for $199...and I think all the other places are selling at that same price (probably fixed by Tunze). I was looking earlier today and found the same Tunze model on Amazon for $189 with free shipping (Prime members).

I have the Tunze nano and I must be doing something wrong because it takes a ton of water to evaporate before it kicks on. When it does, it's on for like 4 seconds. I almost lost my tank because of it. Right now i hate it. Looking for a new system.

I like the Tunze but the pumps are loud and are also junk. I wont buy another Tunze ATO until they change the pump on it. Ive heard good things about the Spectra Pure and will probably go that route next.

Ive used DIY, ATO dot com dual switch, Level Loc, Tunze, couple others that I dont remember the name of. (still have first four listed)

All are pretty good, they have all have an equal chance of failure of some component; what prevents a tank crash or burned pump is having a fall back sensor/switch hooked to your Aquarium controller, regular maintenance and checks.

The maintenance part is most important when dosing kalk, calcium etc which can cause calcium deposits. Also keep them in the dark helps (float switches)

I'm using an Avast Marine and I like it. Works well and is reliable so far (almost a year). I've also used Tunze 3155, Smart ATO, AquaMedic (which I also like because of redundancies).

Nobody for Avast Marine?

I had been using an Avast Marine with pressure sensor. Worked very well for a couple of years (may sell it or may use on a frag system).
On my new build I did buy a Tunze - haven't used it yet though.
