I had been using an Avast Marine with pressure sensor. Worked very well for a couple of years (may sell it or may use on a frag system).
On my new build I did buy a Tunze - haven't used it yet though.

How does all that work ?

I'm using an Avast Marine and I like it. Works well and is reliable so far (almost a year). I've also used Tunze 3155, Smart ATO, AquaMedic (which I also like because of redundancies).

I used the Avast with a Neptune Pmup and it works great. The Tunze works well but noisy.

I would consider it being consumed and added to rather than stored.

what does everyone think about the newly released Apex FMM + optical sensor like the programability but also leaning toward the Avast ATO as a favorite by many of you.

I'm a low budget man. I have both JBJ and Hydor. I like the JBJ's two sensor deal that will shut of reservoir bump when low. But eventually the floats will stick. The Hydor works like a champ but no reservoir sensor. Still think I prefer it over the JBJ though. Never used the Tunze but not sure how much better it could work than the Hydor.

Roughly $90 if you already have a pump sitting around. Mine worked flawlessly.

I had/have pumps laying around so did not need one. You can buy a pump from them or use another - very flexible that way.

Just ordered mine from Avastmarine, superfast shipping for free now, wasn't expecting they would use USPS Priority Mail as UPS usually takes 5 business from east coast. I plan on using $17 Aqualifter pump for the operation hope that will work out fine.

Aqualifter don't move enough water. You should invest in a apex pmup
