best brand of bio pellets?

I removed the pellets from my tank just over a week ago (after having them in for about 6-8 months) and in the last week my tank is looking gorgeous (see my thread on retiring BP under the chemistry forum). I'm not suggesting everyone should do without BP, but in my specific tank case, it made a difference including other steps I took. My SPS are doing really well...:fun4:

so, your tank looked gorgeous with NP pellets, why you removed them from the tank and started to dose vodka? i cannot find your thread in chemistry forum, can you explain more?

To avoid any confusion, let me summarize:

- I started pellets about 8 months ago
- I did not observe in my tank any noticeable improvements over time
- on the contrary, I observed a deterioration vs. past with cyano build-up
- I then learned that several people using pellets experienced like me cyano
- as my tank was getting worse, I decided to take action
- I removed the pellets, and started dosing carbon manually
- FYI, I used to dose carbon manually also in the past with good results
- since removing pellets and dosing manually (vinegar+vodka) I've experienced significant improvements in tank
- I also opted for maximum simplicity. Basically stopped dosing AA, SPS food, or any other fancy stuff.

Since I've taken these actions my tank is starting to look real good :bounce4:

Now...I am not saying the pellets were the only issue i had, it was likely a combination of things. What I am stating is that removing the pellets in combination to other steps made a significant change for my specific tank.

Happy to provide more info if people are interested :fun4:

Issues with Warner marine Bio Pellets

im using Warner marine and have no problems with it..

I see that you use the Eback Warmer Marine Bio Pellets! Do your pellets float and stick to the top of the reactor by chance b/c mine do? I even soaked them overnight in RODI water PER Instructions.. Just wondering if your pellets are doing the same thing.

Been using Np all in one pellets for a month and no problems. Although at the moment they help reduce my phosphates other than nitrate.

Since I got my TRITON ICP Test results back and my Nitrates were at 0 and my p04 was a tiny bit high @ 004ppm, I have decided to stop dosing Bio Pellets and went back ROWAPHOS in my Vertex Media Reactor. To me, the risk of Bio Pellet is not worth the reward, especially in my case. If you have problems with your Nitrates well then I would go with the pellets.

TANK INFO: 120 MIXED REEF

I don't get it .. the risk is zero nitrates & .004 phosphates ?
