Best camera for <$300?

Our camera died, and I'm looking for a new digital camera for under $300.

Suggestions?
It'd also be very helpfull if it is Linux friendly.

How well does it do tracking fish in the water? Do they turn out blurry?

Our previous camera, a Fuji FinePix s3100, was pretty decent on my cichlid tank, but was horrible on my nano. For some reason, it stopped turning on.

Well fish photography is tough no matter what camera you use. It takes a LOT of practice and a little luck to get a good fish shot but I have this

If you can get down adjusting framerate with exposure and aperture then youll get it in no time.
