Best Chiller for 55g

I am moving my 55g upstairs and putting a 90 in its place. It gets hotter up stairs and I tested it and the temp gets to like 86 degrees. I was wondering what you guys thought the best and least expensive chiller would be. Thoughts and product suggestions are appreciated, links please

1/10hp Current USA, cant go wrong, it has a dual temp controller built it, mine cools a 75 gallon flawlessly, only runs for a few minutes at a time my temp never moves more than a degree

Thanks for the reply. I googled it and was wondering if I could get away with a 1/15 hp which is $90 or so cheaper and acording to http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produ...ubref=AA&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=0022312000000 can cool 50. Do you think it would suffice on a 55?

Henryreef, I really would go with the 1/10 for a 55

You'll save that $90 easily every year in electic costs with the larger chiller, without getting into any btu info or other science stuff; shorter cycles= less power consumption. You can also save power by running your chiller via a tee from your drain (no extra pump). Just make sure to remove and clean the internal coil of the chiller (every 6 months) as well as dust the external coil weekly; and give it plenty of cool air. Here in socal it's also easy to find a used chilled so maybe that's an option to save some money. Also jbj uses better quality compressors from the ones I've opened and fixed. I'd vote for a jbj on a temp controller (AC jr seems to be the best deal) HTH and the compressor info is IME as a HVAC trained reef keeper.

Yeah you have a vary good point. I think it would just be safer to go with the 1/10 and maybe if I got one used I could find a good price
