best choices for anthias

You might also consider the Hawaiian bicolor anthias (Pseudanthias bicolor). I have almost never seen them mentioned on the message boards, and they may well not have much of a track record one way or the other in captivity. I've had a male for maybe two months or so now (admittedly, not long enough to even be of much anecdotal value), but so far, he is doing really well. Eats everything I throw in the tank, even flake and pellets, and has eaten frozen since day one. Plus, he just seems exceedingly robust: he's kind of plump, and will occasionally briefly go after my lubbock's or one of my chromis to show them he's boss. Really colorful, active fish, with a pretty pink on the dorsal area and on the bottom half of the body, with orange elsewhere. He's in my 115 with another male anthias, a male bartlett's, with no aggression problems either way. The bicolor is about twice the size of the bartlett's, though. In fact, that may be a drawback (for some) with bicolors; I've seen them in a couple of LFS now over the last few months, and in each instance the specimens are quite big, at least 4".

To be honest bangkokmatt has 4 sunbursts in his 150 and they have been the best anthias I have ever seen, eat well beautiful, just not out and about as much as others but definatly not too shy, a great fish, I have a single bartletts, its hardy, but gets picked on by my pyles wrasse. Alot of others attempted have to be fed too often or wont eat at all and slowly fade then succume to a bacterial infection.

well i finally took the plunge and ordered my new Anthias. I ordered 1 sunburst anthias, 5 ignitus anthias (just emailed DFS to add 2 more if not too late) and 1 highfin perchlet anthias. I can not wait to see them in person. I have a 29 gallon that has been up and running for atleast 6 months and I have plenty of hiding places I just have to move all my new rics out of there.

I have the prazipro ready for treatment BUT I will wait to treat them until they are eating good. From what I have read that should resolve any problems w/parasites. I am heading to the LFS today to pick up supply. I typically feed my fish mysis, brine, various flakes, HBH pellets, cyclopeeze bar, bloodworms etc. Is there anything else that may help me overcome their picky eating habits during quarantine? I am hopeful I wont loose any but I know the reality of it ecspecially the Sunburst they aren't exactly cheap.

All you anthias guru's out there give me your much appreciated advice

Wow, nine anthias in a 29g QT is going to be problematic.....Have LOTS of water ready for water changes. Hope you have a skimmer on the tank, ya?

I am not sure yet if I will be able to get the 2 other ignitus so may just be the 5 ignitus and the sunburst and highfin. I will keep up with the water changes and I do have a skimmer and tank is barebottom for easy cleaning

Do you think it would best to put the ignitus in the 29 and i put the sunburst and the highfin in a 10 g i can setup for them

Well I got a confirmation email from Liveaquaria that I got the other 2 ignitus so I am getting a total of 7 ignitu. As small as they are do you think they would be overcrowded and stressed in my 29 if I added the sunshine and highfin or like I said I do have actually 2 extra 10 gallons I could setup. Obviously I would prefer to only have to keep up w/1 tank due to the water changes but will do whatever I need too to lessen any undue stress on them.
