best corals to start out with

I love 'shrooms, too. Had two huge 3-year old hairies die (dissolve) suddenly this week. with no clearly apparant reason why. On examination, two small mushrooms attached to the same live rock as the one that the old hairies had been attached to showed signs of a small red parasite that I was unable to remove using a turkey baster or manually. Accordingly, I plucked the "infested" mushrooms, however, they grew back literally over night -- one of them with the same parasite. I'm worried about this as I have spent substantial dollars the past year adding several different mushroom varieties to my 125 gal. tank. Any advice/suggestions would be most appreciated. I should mention that a 3 year old yellow angelfish succumbed last night. It was perfectly healthy and I can only assume that toxins emitted from the dissolving mushrooms did her in. I'm really going to miss her.

Leather corals are nice looking and easy to take care! I have a yellow devil's hand (Lobophytum sp.) for a while.

One of my first was a finger leather. I have had it for about 10 years. Ptretty easy to take care of and pretty forgiving.
