best external protien skimmer for the buck

i have a 225 gallon mixed reef tank .i want to upgrade my customs skimmer to either octupus dnw 250 or a modded asm g4 x to make it a external and recirculating. anyone

You DON'T want to run the ASM external. It designed for internal even if you recirculate the pump.

Ever thought about getting Euro Reef protein skimmer? I have try both Octobpus Recir 3000 and Euro Reef RC500, RS250 and RS125. IMO, Euro Reef work better

There is a guy name Yinger selling his RS250 for $400, he only has it for 3 months. You can go to the Southern California forum to check it out. There is a picture of the protein skimmer as well....

The protein skimmer is internal but for another $20-$30 more, you can have it recir and run external....

That is why i said on the above Post. But you can Mod the protein skimmer to Recir. You can buy 2 uniseal, 2 unions then you will have an Recir ER protein skimmer

For external I have been really happy with my Aqua C EV-1000. the thing is a beast. I am not sure what it wont suck out of my water. 210 tank & 75 sump.
