Best fish food

Right now I'm feeding frozen mysis and spirulina brine. Anyone feed pellets at all? I wanna switch it up and give some variety. If so will they instantly take to pellets or after this long will they not bother? Any other food suggestions thanks

Our fish tend to be pigs and will take most foods. I am partial to Rods line of foods. However, I am very excited to hear about the reef frenzy line of foods that will be featured at our March meeting. I have heard very good things about them, just haven't had the opportunity to give them a shot. In regards to a pellet food, new life spectrum has a few pellets that are good. New Era also has some great products out there.

Go to the super market and buy all different types of seafood. Chop up into various sizes for your different fish. Shrimp clams fish what ever you want

Rods food all the way seems to feed all sizes of life reef frenzy IMO seems to be better for a fish only tank or for those who feed your coral and dont want more small particles floating around. Also skimmer seems not to go as crazy with rods compared to reef frenzy or my own home made

There are quite a few good things to feed. I wana say however if you keep tangs, fresh nori is absolutely essential and plenty of it. Too many people don't feed their tangs enough and they require a ton of food to stay healthy as they do in the wild, and to thrive not just survive. Quality greens like nori are essential.

A bit off topic, but I felt like saying it ;)

Yeah right now I use the haikari or whatever it's called. It has way to much small particles that float around and become nitrates lol. Is there any local places that sell the Rods food id like to try it

Yeah I have a YT and he sure loves his nori lol

I use Larrys reef frenzy. Quality is second to none.
Very clean and creates a feeding frenzy....
Exotic Fish and Corals in Milford should have it very soon.

I like to mix things up.... I feed some New Era pellets and Marine grazers. Then I like to mix up enough food for the week in a squirt bottle type container. I will mix a little of Rods food, some LRS Reef Frenzy, add some Cyclops-Eeze, Vitamins, Garlic essence and Reef Chili. Then I use a funnel and put it all in the bottle. Add some tank water. Shake it up. Give the tank a squirt in the morning and afternoon. You will gauge how much to squirt in by the amount you fish will eat. Then I put the bottle in the fridge and only make enough for a week at a time. It works for me. I hope that helps.

Brian, your homemade food is amazing!

pellets, flake, and nori daily
coral smoothie, simply clams, oyster delight, phycopure, sponge power daily
rods, Brian's mix, mysis, and cyclopeeze every few days
reef chili, and or gonipower every few days
reef energy once a week
acropower every day and working on getting this on a doser currently. The best additive I have found to date!

Search for the reef builders write up on the stuff. You can buy in gallon jugs too!!

So I got word that storing certain foods in the fridge for a week is not such a good idea as things break down in the foods. So I will be rethinking my practices. Sorry for the bunk info....

Ya, it gets funky quick. However, things like coral smoothies etc. must have some preservatives cause they keep quite some time.
