if you dont want a fish you could do emerald crabs, they can eat bubble algae, or at least i have seen it, and for hair algae you could do a sea hare or an abalone snail

Unfortunately not much eats that stuff. Emerald crabs are good but slow. I would suggest harvesting the bubble algae yourself and finding the cause treating that. Pull the rock out or what ever it is attached to and carefully pull off the BA. The hair algae is the same. Find the cause you may be over feeding, not enough water changes or you are adding something high in phosphates. Either way if it is really bad, hand harvest it, but pull the rock out, brush it clean in a separate bucket of water, use a third bucket of clean water and rinse it. I have had my own bout with the hair algae before I changed my feeding habits.

Also look into making your own food. You can much better control the phosphates that way. Good luck.

P.S. if you use the Sea Hare be prepared to give it to someone else with the same problem or feed it after the algae has been consumed or it will starve.

My foxface eats almost anything that is green in the tank, Im also having a hard time keeping zoos, right now he is the number one suspect!

Emerald crabs( in My tank) choose zoas over bubble algae.

I understand (haven't tried) BA is pretty stout and is hard to bust. Only heard that.

I had a foxface and he was the only thing that would touch it. Never bothered any other fish and didn't touch any of my corals. In general, mine was a an algae eating machine!

I have a foxface, purple tang, sailfin tang, and coral beauty. They all eat hair algae, but only the sailfin has touched bubble algae.

I've been wondering about emerald crabs. They seem to be a popular choice, but very unpredictable in what they will consume.

tried the emerald crabs, six of them. Didnt see a difference. Heard the lawn mower blenny is hit and miss.

Torn between a kole tang, tomi tang, or a one spot foxface.

thanks

I have 2 emerald crabs in my biocube they are tearing the hair algea up,and so is my pygmy angel. good luck with your tank
