best gfo media for reactor

I currently use the medium size gfo from brs. It is in a mesh filter sock in a reactor that I can control flow thru , not sure if is reducing my phos. Enough ? Does the media have to tumble to be effective or can I just run my water thru it ? If so should it be fairly slow . Full open ? Or what media is best for this type of reactor ? I hace 2 reactors side by side fed from my return lines , one is for carbon the other is for gfo
Thanks

first carbon and GFO like different flow rates the gfo should gently tumble on the top surface only , i like the bRS high capacity GFO

yes it will remove po4 no matter the amount of flow to a certain point . the reason that you dont want to much flow is because it will abrade itself so fine that it wil get into your tank . i run my gfo and carbon in reactors and then into a 100 micron sock just to be safe .
