Best grain size for hadonni?

doesn't matter. You can even keep this species in a bare bottom aquarium. Haddon's foot attaches under/onto a large rock.

Gary, I am going to have to disagree about keeping them in a bare-bottom. All four of mine are attached to the bottom glass of the tank, with the foot at the sand/rock interface. One of mine will move anytime I let the clowns completely clear the sand away from it, as long as I keep the sand around its foot it won't move.

EDIT to add; another reason I wouldn't keep one in a tank without a sand bed is because of their habit to completely retreat into the sand when threatened and when doing internal water changes.

My green one will do this when either "bothered" or needed to do an internal water change,

Oh and as for the sand, I use the same sand in all of my tanks,

Carib-sea, aragonite seaflor special grade reef sand.

it's ok to disagree

perhaps I should have posted that I can keep Haddon's in a bare bottom tank. The only time I've seen haddoni retreat into sandbed like that is when the animal is stressed or threatened.

I think you might agree that grain size of sandbed doesn't matter.

edit: bottom glass in aquarium = large rock in ocean ;)

I will agree that grain size doesn't seem to matter, as I have keep them with crushed coral many years ago.

I am fairly confident that mine isn't stressed. It will do that if I touch it during a water change, a frag falls, or an internal water change. It does seem to be more sensitive to being touched, I believe because it isn't hosting any clowns.

I have my Haddoni in a temporary tank, and I had to add a container of sand to keep him from moving. Mine will not sit still if his foot is exposed.

I also like sand, because I can startle the carpet causing him to withdraw, when I add new fish. I've had to many swim right into the anemone during the confusion of placing them in the tank.

I alos use the same sized sand as Todd. I collected mine from the Keys though.
