Best HOB Skimer?

For a 30g (Oceanic?) If you're definitely against going with a sump I would look first at a Deltec hangon, followed by the PM HOT1. Great performance for hangons. Next level of performance adds compactness...therefore IMO would be from a TUNZE 9005 followed by a BakPak 2R. Skip the Remora.

another mce600 user, and i agree that it's the best hob. for your tank, tunze would also be a good choice along with the octo (100f?, it has the pump internal and has room for many modifications) if you want a plug and play high performance skimmer though the deltec is your best bet.

If i go with the Deltec MCE600, should i get the Optional Media Chamber and Output Mod?

Whats your input on the optional media chamber and output mod?

Will the Deltec MCE600 over skim my tank? 30g oceanic.

Thanks,,

Derek

tunze 9002 or 9005, dont they hang inside the tank? if so i'll have to rule those out! no room for one inside! :(

yes they (tunze) sit in the tank.

we do not have the media holder...but we do every now and then throw in a bag of carbon without it and it works all right. i dont feel the output mod is needed.

the mce300 maybe a better fit for you. we use the mce600 on a 20g but with a large bioload.

I also think the MCE300 would be good enough for your 30g. But if you ever want to upgrade to a bigger tank and still plan to use a HOB skimmer, then you might want to look into just getting the MCE600 now.
