2nd vote for cpr w/ nw. They are easy to clean, and no problems like other HOB in it's price range...e.g. overflow.

I want to try a different pump with the DLS NW...should work even better. IIRC, you can only get ~ 10sch out of a maxijet.

If you want to spend a little more, the aquamedic turbofloater multi is a good choice.

and if you have the money deltec mce.

The Aqua C Remora Pro or just the Remora depending on tank size. I went over kill and got the Pro with the Mag 3 pump with the drain for a 55-60. Best HOB ever!!!

I havent personally played with the octopus needle wheel hang ons, but the in sump models work well and get very good reviews. I would guess that the hang ons work well too.

I have had one going on a year now and it works great. You cant get a better buy for the money.

There's a steep learning curve with this model, but once you have it settled down the scum it produces is truly disgusting. It's so bad they call it nog...

The MCE600 will skim a small tank, mine is about 40 gallons, and will go up to about 120 gallons for a moderately stocked tank. I feed my tand pretty heavily every day and must clean the skimmer every 2nd or 3rd day. I usually do it every day though, at feeding time as part of my routine. I shut the pumps down, feed, and clean the skimmer cup. Takes about 3 minutes with a small paint brush. Let the tank sit for about a half hour and resume pump operation.

They're bit pricey but worth it imo. I got mine used here on RC, saved quite a bit and love it.

i had a nightmare last night that i had a seaclone HOB
then i woke up this morning and realized i never went to sleep last night

i dont beleive my seaclone works very well
i wouldnt reccomend one to someone
