Best ICH Treatment for a CBB?

It looks like I have ICH in my tank and my prozed CBB is infected. So my question is, what's the best course of treatment for a CBB?

From the sticky threads it appears the agreed alternatives are copper, hyposalinity or tank transfer method. The question is, which is best in the case of a CBB?

Note that I have a 45 gallong tank that I'm preparing as a HT so I can use that copper or hyposalinity are the recommended courses of action. I'll of course provide some PVC elbows for hiding and appropriate circulation.

If however tank transfer method is recommended I'm thinking I should use some smaller containers that will easier to drain and clean every day. The question is, for a CBB that's roughly 4-5" from tip to tail what's the smallest size container that would be safe to use?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Chris

Well, not only does the CBB have ich, your whole tank does. The only way to eliminate the ich is to treat ALL fish outside of the DT and leave the DT fishless for about 10 weeks. If you give us the list of other fish, we may be able to help. I have completely lost confidence in hypo (just my opinion) and I think one of the quinine meds may be the way to go if you're uncomfortable with copper and don't have the equipment for TT. TT can be done using brute storage containers.

I recognize that all the fish need to be treated in an HT but I'm not worried about any of the other fish. The sad tale is that my DT had an outbreak of ich over the Summer, my first such incident in more than 20 years of fishkeeping. When the outbreak started my CBB was in QT as a newly acquired fish so it was not exposed to the ich. The CBB remained in QT throughout the ordeal as I treated the other fish in the HT and allowed the DT to run without any fish for almost 13 weeks. In all, the CBB was in QT for about 21 weeks before being introduced to the DT.

The only other fish to survive the first ich outbreak were a Bangaii Cardinal and a Lyretail Anthias...the parasites or the copper doomed all the other fish. Note too that you've already contibuted to another thread of mine to help me decide the fate of these two survivors and suspected carriers of the parasites.

So at the moment my fish population is minimal, with only the CBB, Bangaii and Lyretail. But I already know that the Bangaii and Lyretail will tolerate copper just fine, though I'm not sure it did the job the first time around even though there were no visible signs of the parasite on either fish. As a consequence, my main concern right now is how best to treat the CBB, in particular as they are relatively delicate fish and finiky eaters.

Thanks

I can go in any direction but want to choose the one with the best success rate for CBB's. Ultimately, whichever method gives me the best chance at success is the one I'l go with. Looking for some CBB owners to cime in with their experiences.
