Best Local Hard Goods Store

In Denver, where I am from there was one place (sherman Tank Co.) that had the most and best selection of stands, tanks, and hardware. THey had mediocre corals and fish. Is there a similiar place in Tampa/Orlando that any of you know of?

Thanks in advance!

last time i looked for a tank new the cheapest place around was petmart. BUT IMO the stands and hoods you got what you paid for. they will do the job though. this may have changed now though. its been awhile since i bought a tank new because the used tanks are such good deals.

one good thing about tanks for new comers is that aquariums have a horrible resale value. great for the buyer but sucks for the seller.

Pet Mart has good stands and prices. I have had several compliments on my hood I got from there in fact a guy who works at another fish store saw my hood and wants to order a identical one.

Normans liquors has some good hard stuff off sr 70 in bradenton. They also have a nice beer selection too.

Check out my little red house, I recently got done building a stand and canopy for my 180. I also have a thread on it in the Large Tanks forum, the name is My 1st 180 project...... Its something like that cant remember the exact name but It shows the progress and can help you build one. Its pretty easy if you have the tools!! IMHO I wouldnt recommend getting them from a fish store UNLESS its NOT made of partical board and ISN'T 3/4" thick. But that my personal opinion on that.

You can score Absinthe at normans I like to get a bottle of it and stick my head in my tank and try to catch the fishes with my mouth.

Hey All,

Thanks so much for the info. I built my first stand and hood, and they are nice, but my wife is in on the deal this time, so building my own is not an option. I am not what you would call mechanically inclined, so further than the size I have already built, I would prefer to buy something.

I will post a sperate note with specifics. I took a gander at Pet Mart today and they have some nice looking stuff. I think I would have to order the items I want, though.

You all are awesome. I will be buying the other hard stuff if I have to pay retail for a stand and hood. :)
