For aquarium work (as well as general macro work) it's tough to beat the Canon 100 f/2.8.

It fits ALL of the new model Canon SLR's. Expect to spend $450-$600. The only question of a Canon lens not fitting a camera is the "EF-S" mount. These are typically cheaper lenses designed for the cheaper cameras, specifically with an APS-C sized image sensor, such as the Rebel-Rebel Xsi and 20D-50D. The expensive cameras i.e. 5D or 1D(s) series are not compatible with these lenses. The Xti will work with every Canon lens made in the last decade or so.
Can you provide more feedback on the Canon 100mm vs Sigma 150mm? Aside from the focal length, are there any noteworthy differences between the lenses?Originally posted by Blazer88
On another note, the Canon 100mm is an excellent lens. I used one for years and was happy with it. I also have the EF-S 60mm and Sigma 150mm and those are equally as sharp, it all depends on how much reach you want.

I don't really agree with the generalization that the EF-S are "cheaper" lenses. The only cheap EF-S lens is the 18-55 kit lens. There are plenty of cheaper EF mount lenses than there are EF-S. The only difference is the EF-S is made for the APS-C bodies as you have mentioned though it has nothing to do with price.
