Best marine stores in NJ?

Hey all, I am looking to buy live rock, and I am going to be in Paramus, NJ this week and was wondering what the best saltwater stores are? I have found many stores in the yellow pages and online, but unfortunately having a name and an address doesn't really help. If anyone could give me some feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

Like I said, I'll be in Paramus, but if the "holy grail" of fish stores (w/ good live rock) is 100 miles away, I'm willing to make the drive.

I have had a 90 gal empty for over 2 years and it's finally full of water!!! I am so excited to get going!!!!!

Thanks in advance, J

absolutely fish on rt 46 in clifton is one of the better if not the best LFS closest to paramus but dont expect great prices, next best for corals i would have to go with fish town USA in ramsey on rt 17 south but again dont expect great deals on live rock.

I go to Red Sand in Dunellen. I'd the owner special ordered Borbonius Anthias for me and can pretty much order what you want. When I was there they had a beauful Goldflake and various sizes of Semilarvatus Butterfly.

tropaquirm in Ocean NJ is the holy grail of fish stores in NJ. There prices are high but its worth it just to see the store.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Keep 'em coming!!! I'm writing them all down and trying to hit as many stores as possible in one day...

Anyone ever been to Something fishy in PA? I think there website is www.toofishy.com

Thanks again!!!! :)

As mentioned, Allquatics, Red Sand and Trop are great stores. I don't get up to Absolutely Fish too often so I can't comment there, but the one gem not mentioned is Aquatic Obsesssions in Avenel. Great store for hanging around.

definately +1 for red sand fantastic sps coral frag selection at good price, didnt pay much attention to live rock, looked like base rock curing but im sure the owner would be able to order what you wanted and he seems to be very reasonable with his pricing in general.

There are only three good stores worth going to that are close to Paramus (30 min drive) but none will have good prices on Live Rock:

Closest - Fish Town USA on Rt17 Ramsey
Next - Absolutely Fish on Rt46 Clifton
Next - The Fish Tank on Rt46 Saddle Brook

All the other stores mentioned are about 1hour+ ride from Paramus

If you are looking at buying large quantities of LR at good prices you will have to do a bit of driving (approx 100miles from Paramus). Check out Sea Trade Marine (call first 609-953-3645) in Medford NJ for good selection and price.

if you are willing to drive up to 100 miles then include "The Hidden Reef" in levitown pa just across the river from burlington nj. from south jersey i would have to say it is the best well worth the trip and live rock Figi is $2.99 lbs. nice pieces usually three giant tubs to pick through. and live stock is incredible.

4501 new falls rd , levitown, pa 215-269-4930

I stopped in at Red Sand yesterday. The owner was real nice and prices were very reasonable. He had a nice selection of SPS frags and everything looked clean with healthy fish.

If you are looking to build a long term relationship with a store that will work with you to get what you need, you can't beat Aquatic Obsessions in Avenel.

If you want to stop by a store just to look around and see a lot of different stuff, Tropaquarium and Absolutely Fish are worth the trip.
