Would like to order a decent amount of snails if we can dissolve the shipping to make it worth it. Would also be interested in ordering from any of these places if have decent prices as I also have a few things I'm looking to order. Or some places have free shipping. More importantly I'd like to go for cheap snails as I plan on ordering from some of the below anyway and I doubt they have decent snail prices or even have them

As for frags, have you asked the locals here on SLASH if they have what you want versus spending a mint at the online stores??

Seems like we have a lot of people here in Saint Louis with plenty of corals that are fraggable...just a thought on the propagation end of things and putting some money in one of our pockets instead of someone elses:D

Obviously not everyone but the people whom I think would be a good fit I have. Trust me, on some of them, it only makes the prices jump even more which I hate so I'm carefully looking at what/when/where/why

Also would like thoughts on horseshoe crabs? I really dig them but not sure about them. Heard conflicting thoughts

Horseshoe crabs.....a definite NO!

Guaranteed to wreak havoc in your tank while it decimates the population of sandbed critters and then starves to death.

i wish one of those places had collinista snails, was able to get stomatella snails for both tanks thanks to ebe.

I placed an order at reeftopia 3 weeks ago for nassarius, astrea, cerith, emerald crabs, serpent star, fighting conch. The order came to $106. That gave me free shipping and everything is still alive today. I got a TON of critters and all were large sized except the nassarius. Most of the Cerith are 2 inches long !!!!! I did a lot of researching and found no place could touch the prices. After receiving the shipment I couldn't believe the specimin sizes. I will never even look anywhere else again when I need critters.

Sealifeinc.net has them in quantity. Ken is doing a lot of work rebuilding the reefs in the Fla. Keys too.

Astreas for $65 per 100
Cerith's for $35 per 100

He has nice Ricordias too.

Yeah, it's looking like a tough price to beat. Glad to hear the response. I wish they offered 2 sizes of nassarius like most LFS's. Small/Large

Jason, when you are ready to order, shoot me a pm about where/what you are ordering. I will probably go in for snails/coral/etc

Order from Premium Aquatics, prices are good and they'll ship UPS Ground to you door in 1 day saving a ton on shipping.

I would be interested in going in on something also. I had a great snail kill-off a few months ago in my tank :(

PA is all out of astrea and cerith snails at the moment but all their other prices seem to match pretty well, fighting conchs are even cheaper.

Plus, they alow you to mix and match any of there cleanup crews and still get the quantity discount. Oh and they have Tank Raised Trochus in stock right now, which you can pretty well count on to reproduce like mad.

JMO, I've never ordered from Reeftopia before.

Reeftopia allows you to substitute as well. Still, the prices are not even close. Biggest discount at PA for nassarius is $1 if you do 48+ and Reeftopia is $.72

Plus, when looking at Ceriths, look under the "lot prices" on reeftopia. $75 for 100

I recently got 10 turbo/astrea snails from saltwaterfish.com. 8 were alive when I got them, two I was not sure about and left in the bucket (they never moved). I had a real hard time staying on top of flipping them over every time one would fall over.

After one month, only one remains. I would discourage people from buying these unless they had an all rock tank... Something more like the environment in which they live. Not sure if reeftopia sells the same kind of snails.

Astreas are the most common that I see around and correct, they cannot upright themselves, however, for the price, they are very good cleaners.

Like I said, it's been 1 month and I'm down to 1 snail. In hind sight, I would argue that for the price, they are really not a good purchase. Basically I paid $13 for that one snail! I should have bought the mexican turbos for $3.50 each!

It was almost as bad a purchase as the non-photosynthetic gorgonian! After a buch of work and headache, it died.

Sorry, didn't mean to steal your thread. Just giving you my $.02.

Hope you have better luck than me.
