I don't believe lab probes are more accurate they just tend to last longer imo. I don't chase PH. That said I don't find PH probes to be that accurate either. My Apex lab probe has my PH currently at 8.6 :sad2:
'Lab grade' probes have a much more durable double junction design that is worth the extra cost if you want a stable, long life probe. They'll also stay in calibration much longer as the double junction design buffers the degradation of the electrolyte and electrode.
Single junction pH probes have an average life of 6-9 months. Double junction pH probes have an average life of 16-24 months.
In my 30+ years in aquaculture research I've bought a lot of probes.
