Are you happy with your SS growth ? Where do you keep yours? Mine is where I remarked in red circle and not happy with growth. In fact there have been no growth in 5 months or so...the rest of corals have grown at a normal rate...thanks!

Hi
They tend to be slow at first and in my experience go dark then as they come lighter tend to base out and then top growth and also colour up so it deends how long you have had it .I have 6 in my tank and a couple of frags took 12 months before growing after the based out.

I bought it five months ago...so I should wait still 7 months...Not strange why they are so expensive then... thanks!

You will appreciate it when it colours up , I have so many from different sources and I put them all in different locations in the tank to find the best position and some have different growth forms and colouration. You can check my thread in this section to see variations.they are also very temperamental and don't like to be moved as they strip in my opinion.I saw the best piece for ages in f's on Friday and very tempted don't buy the bright pieces the darker ones best for me.

After it bases out, you'll start to see it grow. That process may take a while, be patient. I have a tiny frag and it's taking forever to grow, but it's growing and that's all that matters.

Wow, you have nice pieces...the kind of reef I would like to have...I will be patient with my SS. In fact I also have a frag of another SS that it is different variety. Buy after 7 months it is still a frag...i think it is the same size...I have it besides the other SS. Thanks for your advise!

I have a piece growing out nicely - but it is a tan coral, no green or red. Any advice?

if every thing else is ok and your params are stable and under good lighting just leave it they are very slow to start and basing and growth will come .
