Best Powerhead for 40 Gallon Hex

I had 3 maxijet 1200's and a smaller rio (running continuous)currently running on a wavemaker in my 40 gallon tank SPS reef. 1 of them just broke unfortunately. I was looking for recommendations on another pump besides the MJ. I have a SEIO but its soo huge in my 40 hex. Are there any smaller powerheads that can really pack a punch. I would be keeping this pump on continuous and NOT put it on the wavemaker. Here is one pump I saw that looked pretty good....anyone know anything about this??

I advise against getting a Rio. I think they're poorly constructed. IMO, another Maxi Jet is the way to go.

I agree, MJ1200, or seio

yeah that seems to be the concensus from a few tothers i ve heard as well.....do you guys cut your MJ's nozzle off?

well, if you cut off the nozzle, then when the wavemaker gos and stops, it will literally shoot water in a different angle each time. NOt sure if that made sense?

Yeah, the MJ mods are reat. I recently cut the nozzles off of 2 x MJ 1200's and 2 x MJ 900's and it made a ton of difference. Oh you also have to drill holes in the bottom of the intake to allow more water in. The way the impeller turns it makes the water come out sideways from the discharge since the nozzle is not there to focus it. When the wavemaker kicks off and then the pump restarts the impeller can spin the other way and the flow changes by 90 degrees. i have such tremendous flow in my 50 that the turbulance will push the water up about 1" when the flow hits the right way. In my opinion try this mod you will not be dissapointed

I have heard some bad things about the Hydo Flos. I have heard that the restrict the flow quite a bit to turn the spinning part and I have also heard that the can stick so they dont produce the random motion you want. I have just heard these things though I do not have any personal experience with them.
