Best Protein Skimmer for Affordable Price

Out of Reef Octopus, Eshopps, Bubble Magus, and Coralife which is the best protein skimmer in sump.

I think you will get a very wide opinion on this question. Personally, I have only bought and used Reef Octopus. I love the quality, and have had no problems with any of the three I have owned and run. They can be a bit pricey, but it is a quality product that I didn;t want to skimp on.

That being said, I have no experience with any of the others.

Depends on your the model you choose and your needs. I prefer most of the bubble magus bodies over the stuff that reef octopus sells, but if you order them as a SeaSide aquatics skimmer they come with Sicce pumps. I've never liked any of the Eshopps products and feel they are overpriced for what you get, but they also do come with the nice Sicce pumps. Coralife skimmers have their place, but that place isn't on any list that starts with "best".

If I were to purchase a "value" skimmer today it would be a JNS/Aquamaxx cone (the shark pumps they use are Sicce) followed by a seaside aquatics skimmer with a nice Sicce pump.

Reef Octopus was the best bang for the money to me- I am one my second one after going through a powerhouse DELTEC but was trying to save some cash so went with Reef Octopus - no regrets

I had the Reef Octopus for 6 years great skimmer, just sold it because it was too big for my 60 gal cube, I got a Bubble Magus, and love it does a great job. You can't go wrong with either one.
