Best size tank for Tunze nano wavebox

I always wanted a wavebox but it was always too big.

Now that we have a nano version I would love to setup a new tank just for it.

What is the ultimate size tank for the nano wavebox? :D

IMO, the nano wavebox is perfect for tank up to 120g. But someone claim that it will work on 72" long tank....

In my opinion it is ideal for 30"-60" long aquariums up to about 160 gallons in volume, once you get past 48" though the full size wavebox will undoubtedly create a bigger wave.

Would anything under 30" be too small for the wavebox. I was thinking of putting one in my red sea max and the length is 24"

Would having the dual rear offset overflows negatively effect the nano wave box on a 120G?

No, but you will need to play around with your durso pipe a bit by raise the water level inside your overflow box to avoid gurgling sound...

The Nano Wavebox may work on a 24" tank but I have not personally tried it. I would wait until someone has tried it.

How small of a wave height can be made? I have a 120 gallon tank, I am concerned about the waves lapping over the top of the tank. And if I have another powerhead in the tank (eg. 6045 or other powerheads) will they interfere with the function of the wavebox?

The wave height is adjustable and it WILL not splash out of your tank :D. Your powerhead will not interfere with the wavebox...

It is adjustable but if you cannot accomodate at least a 3/4" wave I would not spend the money, the effect won't be enough to be worthwhile.

could you get a 3/4" wave on a 60x30x24 aquarium? I love this small size compared to the full size wavebox. I will also be running two of the new 6105 in this tank.

Your tank is very wide and as a result I don't think the Nano Wavebox will perform very well and I would advise against it. It also excedes the recommended volume.

Hey Roger,

What about a 37x27x20 tank (rimless) for the nano wavebox? Would that work well?

Probably not. It does absolutely nothing on my 30x30x15..::mad2:

It should work Darin.

Clown Reef, it should work, the wave won't be huge but you should get a wave, do you have any photos of the install? Is the transformer set to 24V and have you tried tuning the controller?

Btw, I read your new tank thread. Lol, I think you've run the full cycle! Hope things are going well.

Roger, thanks :)
