Best skimmer for 35 gallon?

Malifluous

I have been skimmerless for years but was hoping to add one to my system cos thats what we do. I like the Pacific coast 100 Recirculating skimmer but i worry that it is too big and it will het up my water. Can someone reccommend a good skimmer for this size tank. TIA

Tunze

I have the Tunze 9010 and will not hesitate to recommend it. I average a cup of wet skim daily from my 100 gallon system.

A 35 gallon is a pretty small tank, a D&D marine typhoon would probably work very well on a tank that size (worked well on a highly stocked 100) and only cost $68! That is assuming that you do not have a sump as it is a hang on, with a sump an octopus NW150 (around $150) would probably kick butt, or if you have the cash a tunze 9010 (which I currently have on my 92 corner) would be major overkill.

Freestanding External Skimmer?

Freestanding External Skimmer?

The Pacific Coast 1000 skimmer that you have selected is not overkill. It is better to have excess skimming capacity than not enough.

The recirculating design is excellent. A recirculating skimmer can often be freestanding next to a sump. A portion of the overflow is plumbed directly to the skimmer and the skimmer's outflow is directed into the sump. Do see if that plumbing arrangement is possible with your skimmer.
