Best skimmer with the smallest footprint?

Well, it is all opinion I'm sure, but I'm looking for your thoughts on the best skimmer with a very small footprint for my new tank.

I have an ASM g1x with recirc and gate mod right now. The guy who did the recirc mod could have done a better job, so I'm tempted to seal up the holes in the body and redrill them. I'd be game for any tips on this too. Also, the gate valve is a monster.

That said, what is smaller, but as good or better?

Pete, check out the Tunze DOC skimmers. Very small footprint, quiet and efficient. WARNING: This is all hearsay and not from personal experience.

Generally, the more water volume in the reaction chamber the longer the dwell/contact time, so for a given footprint, taller would be better (all else being equal).
