Best tang for GHA?

I'm about to move to a 120 tank with a sump and I want to get a tang or 2 to keep the grass mowed. I have a blue hippo now, but he's spoiled on meaty foods and won't touch the GHA.

I've heard Koles are best???????

No guarantee that any tang will eat GHA. Rabbitfish are a better bet, but they get quite large and grow quickly. Not even a rabbitfish are a sure thing.

i heard koles are good..or anything in the bristletooth family....then again my yellow keeps what lil gha i get mowed down

I have a Tomini Tang, totally demolished my algae problem, has yet to turn to the true bane in my side, the green hair algae. Then again, it's only on one rock, so I might want to get rid of it.

The bristletooth tangs really dont like it, it get stuck in their teeth and mouths. The only tang I have ever kept that nibbled at it was a mimic tang. Both of my rabbitfish nibble it when they are hungry but all of my fish would rather eat something better tasting when given the opportunity.

Good luck getting any "algae eater" to eat it if you spoil them like me. Mine don't go after it since I feed nori each day.

got one

got one

Just picked up a blue eye kole...much more sktiking than the standard yellow eye. We'll see.

Got a picture of that one?

I have a rabbitfish in an 80g for 4 years now. not a single drop of anything algae related. another person said they grow quick...mine hasn't grown that quick in 4 years. he's great. would highly encourage this fish.

A rabbitfish is probably the better bet, but good luck with the tang. I'd love to see a picture of it as well.
