Best tang to control GHA?

I have a 40g frag tank and am getting gha after about a month and a half. I've never had a speck in my 125g. I have a small melanarus wrasse, 2 mocha clowns and a mandarin. If I get a small tang or two, is one type better than another to eat gha?

A 40g is way to small for any tang. Most Tangs will not touch GHA. I previously bought a Sea Hare from a LFS for about 10 bucks. It knocked out a pretty substantial invasion of GHA in my 190 in about a week. Once it's all gone, you have to supplement feeding or it will starve.

Not sure I really agree. Algae can grow even in low nutrient environments (Chaeto as an example). Definitely get your nutrients under control FIRST, but then employing herbivores can be useful. Tangs will eat GHA, though it can be hit or miss. I'm fortunate in that mine in my DT do (though the scopas in my FT does not), and will clean up any stray strands that they can reach. They won't eat bryopsis though (does anything!)

What about a lawn mower blenny or two? Kinda ugly (for SW standards) but mine has earned his right to stay in my tank. He took out the GHA in my frag tank, and kept the glass clean for the most part. In a 40 with alot of algae, you might want to try two.

Some tangs are great for clearing out algae but I wouldn’t recommend any to a 40 gallon.
My foxface loves bryopsis
