Best temp for ritteri, haddoni

What is the optimal temp to keep for a ritteri and a haddoni? Is it the same for both? My tank runs between 80-83 and I'm thinking it may be too high.
Thanks!

I only keep Haddonis....

My tanks run b/t 78 and 83 and that is the daily temp swing. My oldest Haddoni had been with my for 8 years, so I think that is a good temp range.

Thanks for the response. I had a ritteri pass away recently and I was told that they should be kept at the most at 78 or it can cause some stress. Maybe I'll try a haddoni.

Ritteri will do just fine at 80+ degrees. Ocean temperatures are often much higher than 78 degrees. Yours probably passed away because it wasn't healthy to begin with. They are extremely poor shippers and should really be bought from an lfs where they can be inspected for health. Some people on this board with healthy mags have waited years and driven hundreds of miles to find a healthy one.
During the past year I always keep my eye out for healthy ones. Out of the dozens of LFSs that I have visited in the Los Angeles and san francisco areas, I have only seen one mag that looked healthy!!!

My advice is to find a healthy mag in a public aquarium or in a fellow reefers tank and use that as a standard for judging what you should purchase from an LFS (mail order is way too dicey with this species). It takes patience, but will pay off in the long run. Good luck!!!

Thanks E.J. Coral. I was truly upset by the loss. I have looked for a while now in my area, but no one seems to carry them. I read you drove 8 hours for one. I may be willing to do that. How do you keep them from attaching to the container you carry them in, or how do you detach them if they do?

if the anemone is attaching itself to its traveling container, i would find that to be a good sign. if it refused to attach...i would be worried.

magnificas tend to appreciate smooth surfaces and because of this detach easily. by just using fingernails, slide under them and peel them like the skin off an orange.

I keep the temp for all my anemones around 76 to 80. I try to keep it below 80 at all times.

Why do you try to keep the temp so low?

About a year ago I lost 4 Elegance corals when my temp went up to 85, there is more O2 in cooler temps, and high temps can be dangerous for any animal that harbors zooxanthellae. If I keep my temp at 82, I will be 4 degrees closer to dangerously high temps than I will be at 78.
