Best type of iodine to use?

There is no "best" type. However if i had to pick a brand i'd go with Lugol's. It's concentrated iodine and iodide. You only need to use a few drops as opposed to Kent that expects you to use capfulls.

I have read about adding iodine, adding iodine isn't necessary if you do regular water changes. Too much iodine is bad for your inverts such as shrimp. It can cause them to molt too often and will lead to a much shorter life span. Do you have an iodine test kit?

Get medical grade Lugols from a local pharmacy about $23.00 for 160z versus the other branded stuff, exactly the same thing, only not getting ripped off @ $8-10 for a single 1oz bottle. A no brainer, it's basically a lifetime supply or you split with all of your new best friends. Have a good one. Mike
