alright guys i need to catch a yellow tang he doesnt come out when he sees the net. so i need your best way of catching a fish. he is too big to the 2 liter bottle trap.

Large acrylic trap baited with nori occasionally works, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pull out the rock and work a net.

Drain the tank holding the water in a brute garbage can or rubbermaid tubs. Catch said fish when water level is low enough, then fill the tank back up.

That method has my vote. Of course for meat eaters, a baited fish trap with controllable door always works, just takes time.

I use a piece of thin plex cut to size. Just use it to section off the tank and trap the fish in a more manageable area. Depending on how many rocks you have, some may have to be removed but it should be minimal.

When I need to catch a fish I put the largest net i have in the tank overnight. Then feed the fish in the area where the net is as the fish comes up to eat net him. Of course you need 2 people to accomplish this most times. One to ffed the other to net. Works everytime just have patients. Goodluck

fish em out with a barbless hook. what worked fo rme, and sounds like wont for you, was i trapped my undulated in a 2-way-out situation (into net or swim up lol), and , im asuuming with his stuborness, he chose to power through the net, now hes in my sump waiting for a new home :)
