Best Way to Block Light in Hose

What is the best way to cover a hose to prevent algae growth. The portion of my hose going from the fuge back to the tank is getting pretty green because it is next to the fuge light. I'd like to cover it in a way that I can remove the cover to look at the hose occasionally. So I need some kind of removable dark sleeve I guess. Any ideas? It's just a short length, about 4 inches.

I used to cover my overflow boxes with tinfoil to block light and reduce algae growth. Cheap n easy!

Can you wrap it with foil?

Two great ideas, I happen to have a piece of pipe insulation in stock but I think the tin foil will be easier in my cramped fuge. Thanks!!!

It may need some replacing from time to time, just keep an eye on it. But there should be no ill effects IME.

You can look in the electrical dept at home Depot, they have plastic tubing that is plit that is used to organize wires, that may work!

ha ha , he said 4" hose. my nano has black tubing , same deal. it's super cramped. it works pretty well. i still clean it out a couple times a year. a bunch of the lfs/tractor stores sell pond tubing in various length/diameter

i like the tin foil idea! Nice and easy. I have the same thing happening in my sump. The drain line is right under the light and it looks nasty!
